The Capoeira Brasil[nyc], Instrutora Joy & Instrutor Tuzinho branch has been holding classes for approximately 3 years. We are still a relatively small class but we are part of a larger group of Capoeira Brasil members who practice Capoeira throughout the world. Our classes are based in Manhattan and in Astoria, Queens, with 5 classes a week.
Both of our instructors have been practicing Capoeira for over 6 years and are known and respected in the Capoeira community. They have helped the group build a strong presence in NYC, performing for many non-profit organizations, universities and TV Networks.

Aside from our regular classes for adults, Capoeira Brasil[nyc] has partnered with non-profit organizations throughout metro area high schools and junior high schools to establish projects targeting the city's youth. These projects are devoted to spreading the art of Capoeira in neighborhoods that lack the necessary resources to expose youth to the arts and also to fighting against drugs, lack of discipline and obesity.

In our class, you will find many different people: men, women, children, and mothers, and many different people of all cultural backgrounds. Capoeria Brasil[nyc] believes that Capoeira is for everyone! Our main objective is to give everybody the opportunity to learn Capoeira, without discrimination against of race, sex, or social class.
